H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste. Process Engineer support includes chemistry control, flammable gas, waste compatibility assessment, vapors, and retrievals for Tank Farm operations. Assignments within the process engineering scope will be made on as needed basis and may include modelling, preparation and review of engineering documents or calculations, and special topics as needed. The process engineer position has the following responsibilities: - Act as a fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of the subject matter or the functional area of the assignments. - Conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and adaptation or modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. - Demonstrate interpolative patterned thinking and the ability to generate alternative solutions using sound engineering principles - Function as a team member on a task force or special assignment. - Demonstrate the ability to generate alternative solutions using sound engineering principles. Meet the following scope and expectations: - Prepare and review Engineering documents, evaluations, and calculations. - Function as a team member consisting of both internal and external resources. - Develop and sustain productive customer relationships. - Be customer service oriented, completing assignments safely, on time, and within budget. - Seek to understand engineering work assignments and to be self-directed. - Ensure all documents prepared are of "stand alone" quality. - Seek to gain a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. - Set challenging goals for personal and group accomplishments. - Perform routine administrative activities/duties on time (routine training, safety meetings, TIS, continuing training, staff meetings, schedule input). - Provide support for other Process Engineering activities, as needed. - Obtain Engineering Technical Staff Qualification card within six months of hire and Process Engineer Qualification within one year. Maintain qualification cards.
Qualifications
Grade 17: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical degree; and Four (4) years' related experience Grade 18: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical degree; and Six (6) years' related experience - Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased. Grade 19: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline; and Eight (8) years' related experience - Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased.
Compensation
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
