Duties

Hanford Mission Integration Solution (HMIS) is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer who will report to the Contractor Assurance System (CAS) Manager and support the implementation of the HMIS Assurance programs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE, BUT MAY NOT BE LIMITED TO: * Functions as a Hanford site-wide interface with Department of Energy Hanford Field Office staff and CAS counterparts across the Hanford Site. * Provides Hanford site-wide instruction/training on CAS elements and implementation. * Acts as a subject matter expert in Assurance processes (e.g., Operating Experience/Lessons Learned, Trending, or Issues Management). * Prepares and revises assurance program documents (e.g., policies, plans, procedures). * Independently reviews company Integrated Safety Management Systems (ISMS), Performance Objectives Measures and Commitments (POMCs), policies, plans, procedures, and other documents to ensure they meet quality and mission requirements and expectations. * Maintains familiarity with contracts, requirements, consensus codes, orders, and standards in support of Assurance work scope. * Establishes and maintains relationships with HMIS personnel, designated client personnel, and other One Hanford Contractors. * Develops and analyzes trending/performance indicators (for the evaluation/monitoring of the overall health of the company contractor assurance program). * Leads and participates in the performance of event notifications, investigations, and causal analyses (and is knowledgeable of the methodology/tools utilized). * Leads and participates in issues management, Price-Anderson Amendments Act (PAAA) non-compliance screening/tracking, and/or continuous improvement activities (e.g., identification of issues, screening of issues, causal analysis, trend/data analysis, effectiveness reviews, and close-out of issues). * Leads and participates in assessments, including independent assessments (audits/surveillances/other independent assessments) and management/self-assessments through the following: - Assessment scheduling. - Develops assessment plans and lines of inquiry. - Leads opening, in-progress, and closing meetings. - Conducts factual accuracy reviews and issuing reports of assessment results to responsible organizations, projects, and senior management. - Provides review and follow-up for actions related to assessment findings. * Performs Management Observations for activities which do not rise to the level warranting assessment.

Qualifications

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL: * Bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience in quality, contractor, or performance assurance - OR - an equivalent combination of education and experience. * Ability to work closely with technical teams, senior leadership, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders with minimal supervision. * Exceptional facilitation, leadership, communication, and emotional intelligence skills, including strong oral and written communications ability in summarizing complex topics for senior leadership. * Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential badge. SENIOR LEVEL: * Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience in quality, contractor, or performance assurance - OR - an equivalent combination of education and experience. * Ability to work closely with technical teams, senior leadership, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders with minimal supervision. * Exceptional facilitation, leadership, communication, and emotional intelligence skills, including strong oral and written communications ability in summarizing complex topics for senior leadership. * Practical experience leading and managing root cause analyses. * Experience with providing leadership, mentoring, and/or training related to event investigations, cause analysis, and assessments for assurance personnel across multiple organizations/companies. * Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential badge.

Compensation

In compliance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and Department of Energy (DOE) Hanford Field Office (HFO) direction, employees issued initial badges on or after September 1st, 2025, are required to obtain and maintain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential. To obtain this credential, new employees must successfully complete and pass a federal background check investigation. This investigation encompasses multiple areas of eligibility and includes a declaration of illegal drug activities, including use, supply, possession, or manufacture within the last year. This includes marijuana and cannabis derivatives, which are still considered illegal under federal law, regardless of state laws.
