The Technical Procedure Writer will support a new nuclear fuel facility by developing, reviewing, and maintaining technical procedures and supporting documentation for facility operations, production processes, and system design. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise and procedural writing capability, with direct engagement with engineers, operations personnel, and subject matter experts to translate complex processes into clear, accurate, and compliant procedures. The position is fully on-site in Oak Ridge, TN and requires availability to start in the near term with full-time support. Key Responsibilities Develop, revise, and maintain operational procedures, system descriptions (SDDs), and production documentation for nuclear facility processes Translate engineering concepts, system requirements, and operational workflows into clear, concise, and user-friendly procedures Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, safety, and quality personnel to gather technical input and validate documentation Support the “procedure-alization” of production and manufacturing processes for nuclear fuel operations. Perform document reviews to ensure accuracy, clarity, regulatory compliance, and consistency with site standards Verify procedures through field walkdowns, observations, and validation activities Ensure all documentation complies with DOE requirements, nuclear quality assurance standards, and company procedures Maintain document control and configuration management practices for procedure updates and revisions Identify gaps in existing documentation and recommend improvements or consolidation Support audits, reviews, and readiness activities by providing complete and compliant documentation sets

Qualifications

Required Qualifications U.S. Citizenship required Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science, Technical Writing, or related field (or equivalent experience) Demonstrated experience in technical or procedure writing within a nuclear, DOE, or highly regulated industrial environment Strong understanding of technical systems, engineering processes, or manufacturing operations Proven ability to work with subject matter experts to develop accurate technical documentation Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical information Experience using Microsoft Word and document formatting tools for controlled procedures Ability to work on-site in Oak Ridge, TN on a full-time basis Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting nuclear fuel cycle, production, or chemical processing facilities Familiarity with DOE orders, nuclear quality assurance programs (e.g., NQA-1), or regulated procedure requirements Prior experience developing System Design Descriptions (SDDs) or similar engineering documentation Technical writing certification or formal training Experience performing procedure validation, verification, and field walkdowns Background in engineering disciplines (mechanical, chemical, nuclear, or electrical) Additional Requirements Candidates should be prepared to provide samples of previously developed procedures or technical documentation as part of the evaluation process.
