Duties
Hanford Mission Integration Solutions (HMIS) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Security Specialist to join our Safeguards and Security (SAS) Performance Assurance team, supporting effectiveness and compliance. This role will perform program assessments, trend analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives to meet Department of Energy (DOE) standards and contract requirements. This role will drive organizational excellence, transparency, and accountability, directly impacting the ongoing mission of secure operations at the Hanford Site. Primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Maintaining thorough understanding of federal directives, contract requirements, and relevant procedures. * Self-Assessments: - Performing self-assessments, reviews, and evaluations of SAS programs, processes, and procedures. - Applying assessment approaches such as interviews, observations, performance testing, and data analysis. - Compiling results into concise, accurate reports that meet DOE requirements. - Substantiating assessment findings and deficiencies with objective evidence and clear documentation. - Evaluating implemented corrective actions for sustainability. - Engaging and coordinating with SAS representatives and other contractors for integrated site-wide program compliance. * Performance Assurance Trend Analysis: - Support managers and subject matter experts (SMEs) in analyzing performance trends and providing actionable feedback. - Conduct trend analyses and recommend actions based on data and metrics.
Qualifications
*Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience in assessments, audits, evaluations, performance assurance, continuous improvement, or security, OR equivalent education and experience. *Demonstrated expertise in critical thinking, analytical problem solving, and data-based decision making. *Proven verbal and written communication skills, with ability to write clear, concise, and effective reports. *Ability to complete required on-the-job and formal training for certification as a Safeguards and Security Assessment Specialist. *Familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., DOE). *Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential badge. ***Must be able to obtain and maintain a "Q" Clearance. Compensation

In compliance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and Department of Energy (DOE) Hanford Field Office (HFO) direction, employees issued initial badges on or after September 1st, 2025, are required to obtain and maintain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential. To obtain this credential, new employees must successfully complete and pass a federal background check investigation. This investigation encompasses multiple areas of eligibility and includes a declaration of illegal drug activities, including use, supply, possession, or manufacture within the last year. This includes marijuana and cannabis derivatives, which are still considered illegal under federal law, regardless of state laws.
