Duties

GENERAL SUMMARY This position works with the agency’s strategic plan, operational leaders, and the guidance within the agencies financial strategy to identify financial resource needs, lead efforts to ensure financial resource needs are well understood, approved, and acquired. Responsible for engaging in the rate case process where financial resources are acquired for some generating assets. The Financial Planning Manager has oversight responsibilities for Energy Northwest’s long-range planning and financial forecasting process. Works across the organization to develop long range financial plans that prioritize and allocate resources across operational initiatives, and strategic needs. Incorporate risk management principles to ensure adequate stress testing of plans and financial requirement adequacy is well understood based on evolving operational needs, internal strategies, and/or external environment or stakeholder conditions. Provide leadership and oversight of the following functional areas: Budgeting, Financial Reporting, Business Case Analysis, Long Range Planning, and operational risk management in conjunction with the agency’s Insurance program requirements. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Management and Organizational Development Coach and development direct reports on a regular basis to maintain and improve performance. Ability to build and sustain a positive, proactive team-led culture. Provide regular oversite and feedback on process execution. Continuously evaluate team capabilities and identify areas for training or development to grow team’s capabilities. Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements in budgeting, financial reporting, and financial management processes. Implementing best practices and tools to streamline budgeting processes, enhance data accuracy, and improve decision-making capabilities. Agency Planning and Forecast Development Oversee the development and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities for Energy Northwest’s generation assets. Oversee the evaluation, budgeting, procurement, periodic competing of insurance providers, ongoing management of policy changes, evaluates/monitors for potential impacts to existing policies and advises senior leadership on coverage threats and/or opportunities to further de-risk. Analyze and forecast financial, economic, and other data to provide accurate and timely information for strategic and operational decisions. Coordinate cross-functional teams to develop business strategies and objectives, ensuring alignment with corporate goals. Identify and drive initiatives to improve operational efficiency, including process improvements, cost reduction, and systems enhancements. Facilitate communication and collaboration among departments to ensure that financial strategies are aligned with company-wide goals. Communicate effectively to external stakeholders and regional public utility participants for the driver of future funding needs and associated market risk. Oversee the preparation of operational and risk reports for management analysis. Spearhead the development of new business opportunities. Serve as a member of the senior staff and provide strategic financial leadership on decision making issues affecting the agency. Attend and present as necessary to regional interest groups such as PPC, NWPCC, etc. Coordinate planning efforts with BPA related to Long Term Planning and future rate case setting. Support and deliver communication efforts with external parties including project participants. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of general economic conditions, plant condition, changing trends, and industry activities that may affect the agency (positive and/or negative) regarding emerging risks and advise the agency leadership. Must participate on the Emergency Response team (ERO) when designated and support biennial refueling outage. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or economics and 10+ years proven experience in risk management, agency operations, business, budgeting, planning, and financial analysis for mid-to-large company or component of a large-to-enterprise company and a minimum of 5 years supervising/managing people and projects.

Compensation

Pay Range $167,142.00 - $250,714.00 Annual Midpoint: $208,928.00 Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances. Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications. Incentive Compensation This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
