H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste. H2C is seeking a Materials Technical Specialist who will provide advanced technical, operational, and programmatic leadership, oversight, guidance, and consultation to resolve complex issues within the Material Assets organization. This role focuses on applying deep technical expertise to establish cost-effective solutions for frequently changing supply chain and material requirements. The Materials Technical Specialist will lead critical initiatives such as the Business Management System (BMS) upgrade, material requestor deployment efforts, special projects, and continuous process optimization. The successful candidate will work independently to ensure strict adherence to technical guidelines, foster a strong compliance culture, and coordinate cross-functional improvements that support the broader Hanford Site cleanup mission. The specific duties of the Materials Technical Specialist will include but are not limited to the following: *Under administrative direction, establish cost-effective technical or programmatic solutions to issues generated by changing material assets and supply chain requirements. *Develop concrete measures for determining procedural compliance and effective program implementation across Material Assets. *Conduct rigorous technical investigations into operational issues and audit performance to determine process effectiveness and improvement. *Develop advanced methods and technologies to effectively mitigate undesirable programmatic and operational issues, including ordering, receipt, inventory, and delivery discrepancies. *Provide high-level technical guidance on problem resolution by assessing atypical, complex issues impacting material flows, storage, and process and safety execution. *Take a visible leadership role as a task team leader in implementing, resolving, and closing diverse, technically challenging material readiness and logistics issues. *Manage a broad spectrum of assignments ranging from short-term focused tasks to large, complex strategic projects requiring substantial time for resolution and closure. *Participate actively on cross-organizational improvement teams engaged in material assets projects involving schedule or regulatory compliance challenges. *Work independently to ensure adherence to procedures and guidelines and consult closely with cognizant management and staff to design corrective action plans. *Provide expert technical and operational input on critical items such as contract transition, assessment/audit/technical reports, and materials related procedures. *Review and deliver technical guidance for supply chain projects, including metrics, procurement strategy reviews, and inventory management system upgrades. *Support and facilitate material flow mapping, Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs), and Lean initiatives to maximize process efficiencies and eliminate operational bottlenecks. *Provide technical input and structural coordination to support training, procedure development, and onboarding activities for material assets personnel. *Coordinate and integrate complex technical/administrative information and activities within the area of supply chain operations. *Propose strategic goals and milestones involving technical and administrative program issues for which organizational and operational performance will be measured. Participate in related strategic initiatives. *Propose integration of appropriate resources and technology to meet Material Assets functionality goals. Remain current of job related existing and emerging technologies and serve as a communications source for technology concepts. *Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Grade 19: *Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. *Eight (8) years of related experience in material management, inventory control, or related supply chain operations. *Previous leadership or team lead experience in an operational environment. *Working knowledge of material control principles, procurement support processes, and inventory management practices. Grade 20: *Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. *10 years of related experience in material management, inventory control, or related supply chain operations. *Extensive experience in material management, inventory control, procurement support, or related high-regulated supply chain operations. *Demonstrated experience taking a primary technical leadership or task team leader role in identifying and closing complex programmatic issues. *Proven capability to work independently under administrative direction to audit performance, investigate process challenges, and implement corrective actions. Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.
Compensation
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
