Job Responsibilities/Duties Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) delivers exceptional performance in safely removing, treating, and disposing of tank waste. H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste. The System Planning and Alternatives Analysis team within H2C's Mission Analysis organization supports these goals by developing the strategy for executing all parts of Hanford Tank Waste Treatment Mission over the next several decades. This includes generating plans and analyzing risks, contingencies, and alternatives for mission execution. Plans and analyses are backed by computer simulations, process modeling, lifecycle cost analysis, and knowledge of the applicable regulatory framework. For this role, H2C is seeking an experienced engineer with strong problem solving and system-level thinking capabilities as well as knowledge of the Hanford Tank Waste Treatment Mission and associated regulations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Develop case studies for innovative approaches to the Hanford mission, including identification of all relevant requirements. * Communicate results of case studies in a clear, narrative format to H2C Management, the Department of Energy, and other stakeholders. * Author technical reports. * Perform chemical process modeling and analyze large data sets from chemical process models using SQL, Python, and other tools. * Create dashboards and other data visualizations using Tableau and PowerBI. * Maintain an expert-level knowledge of assigned systems; own and manage related requirements for the Hanford mission. * Support QA activities for modeling software; write and execute test cases. * Identify and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement, efficiency, and automation within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
Qualifications
Grade 17: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline; and four (4) years of related experience Grade 18: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline; and Six (6) years of related experience Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased. Grade 19: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline; and Eight (8) years of related experience Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased.
Compensation
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
