H2C seeks an Operations Support Specialist (OSS) to support the Radiation Protection Program by ensuring that Radiation Protection programs operate in full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal performance standards exercising independent discretion in matters that directly affect worker radiological protection. The OSS also supports dosimetry operations by providing independent judgment, oversight, and decision-making in the issuance of personnel dosimetry, bioassay scheduling, inter contractor radiological coordination, and new-hire integration. Essential Duties: * Lead and coordinate radiation protection activities, including radiological surveillance, access control, work planning, and job coverage. Develop and implement strategies to optimize safety and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. * Act as subject matter expert and point of contact for radiation protection programmatic areas such as records and organizational communications (e.g., rad happenings). * Ensure accuracy, timely development, and revision of technical documents and protocols. * Design, implement, and monitor assessment programs for radiation safety. * Conduct field and facility walk-downs (documented via OPTs), and performance reviews to identify trends and recommend improvements. * Develop and maintain radiation protection performance metrics, trend analyses, and program effectiveness indicators. * Lead and support corrective action management via iCAS and event investigations. Provide recommendations to resolve issues and prevent recurrence. Incorporate feedback and peer reviews to enhance program effectiveness. * Support administration and advancement of the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) program, including awareness activities. Promote a culture of continuous improvement in radiation safety. * Provide operational support to Radiological Company Technical Authorities over their assigned Functional Areas. * Recommend policy changes and develop implementation plans to enhance radiation protection operations. Interface with management to develop and maintain assessment schedules and respond to external audits. * Maintain and update training materials, qualification cards, and program files. Implement training requirements and ensure compliance with H2C procedures. * Provide Dosimetry support to include: o Provide day-to-day technical support for dosimetry operations, ensuring accurate assignment, tracking, and maintenance of radiological monitoring requirements. o Issue and collect dosimetry for personnel; evaluate dosimeter use, condition, and potential anomalies. o Assign and terminate dosimetry profiles and bioassay schedules based on job roles, exposure potential, and regulatory requirements. o Deliver new-hire training focused on dosimetry expectations, radiation monitoring responsibilities, and program compliance. o Serve as liaison with Human Resources to ensure proper onboarding and offboarding of personnel regarding dosimetry and bioassay obligations. o Provide oversight and editorial ownership of Dosimetry Operations procedures, with responsibility for content and accuracy. o Act as the primary interface between H2C's dosimetry program and dosimetry organizations from other Hanford contractors, ensuring consistency in monitoring expectations, data exchange, and worker exposure history. o Resolve cross-organizational dosimetry issues and advise on interpretations of radiological monitoring criteria. o Oversee site/department programs, and to groups and committees, developing and ensuring proper tracking, posting, completion, timeliness of responses and electronic maintenance, including but not limited to: o Operator Aids Program o Radiological Directives Program o Required Reading Program o Occurrence Reporting and Processing System (ORPS) o Conduct of Operations Matrix (CONOPs) o Employee Accident Prevention Council (EAPC) o Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) o Overtime Administration for Craft (OATs)
Qualifications
Grade 13: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience Grade 14: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field; and 1 year related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience - Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased. Grade 15: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field; and 2 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience - Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased.
Compensation
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
