Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) manages one of the most challenging radioactive waste cleanup projects in the country. The H2C mission is to safely store, retrieve, and treat 53 million gallons of legacy radioactive and hazardous waste stored in 177 underground tanks on the Hanford Site located in Richland, WA. The Tank Waste Inventory and Characterization (TWIC) organization mission is to deliver reliable waste inventory estimates for the Hanford tank farms by maintaining detailed tank was characterizations and to provide comprehensive data to support decisions on tank safety, waste management, and environmental protection through quality-focused waste sampling and analysis plans. To this end, TWIC updates and maintains the Best-Basis Inventory (BBI), which is the official tank waste inventory at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Hanford Site. H2C is seeking a proactive and technically sound Operations Support Specialist reporting to the IH Manager. The individual would be outgoing, and team focused to lead improvements and support implementation of the IH systems, processes, and programs across the organization. The Operations Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical support to various levels of management, workers and interface with the DOE customer using excellent written and verbal skills. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: * Develop technical content for departmental presentations and communications. * Supports development of strategic planning documentation and process improvement initiatives * Participates and/or leads assessment evaluations, SEAs, POMCs, trends. * Interfaces with Procurement/management to order equipment/supplies, develop and respond to contractual requirements, and coordinate contract invoice reviews. * Develop/maintain databases. * Track and trend department goals according to key metrics that are measured throughout the organization. * Interfaces with management to develop and respond to external assessments and audits. * Supports development and preparation of reports and provides presentation of findings. * Manages assigned vehicles for the department * Creates/maintains PowerBI and supporting Excel data sources * Serves a department website administrator * Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Grade 16: Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in related field and 2 years related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Grade 17: Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in related field and 4 years related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased. Grade 18 Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in related field and 6 years related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased.

Compensation

In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
