H2C seeks an Operations Support Specialist (OSS) to provide support to staff within the Industrial Safety Department. Under general supervision of the Safety Integration Manager, the OSS acts as an independent contributor in all conventional aspects of the subject matter or the functional area of the assignments. This position will be acting as a health advocate to accompany injured workers and their manager to medical facilities when needed. Interfaces with management, labor representatives, central shift managers, HR and medical professionals as necessary to execute Safety Department business. The OSS involved in decisions and actions that have a high visibility impact on the successful achievement of company goals including collaborating closely with medical professionals at both on site clinics and off-site medical facilities to support employee injury and illness management. The position plays a key part in helping the organization achieve and exceed its health and safety performance goals, including a Total Recordable Case (TRC) rate of 0.50 and a Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred (DART) rate of 0.30. The role requires making timely, informed decisions to facilitate efficient care and ensure employees can safely return to work as quickly as possible. The OSS is responsible for providing SME support for the Safety Book which requires knowledge of safety hazards and concerns as well as getting those hazards and concerns mitigated through the proper means. They will also evaluate the injury/illness event scene and determine if any safety issues or concerns need remediation and consult with the field safety professionals. This position will also be the primary contact for the safety recognition budget and the safety award inventory that goes with it, requiring understanding of the FAR and purchasing allowable and unallowable items under the safety recognition budget for the EAPC, Safety, and ALARA. Supports new hire onboarding to implement the assigned training plan and coordinate required trainings, required medical appointments, including Hammer training, H2C training, medical and dosimetry. Supports and facilitates workshops, provide coordination of classroom sessions, and block scheduling. Additionally, the OSS submits qualification records to training, provides coordination for Safety Integration activities supporting a proficient work environment and assists with the development and implementation of Industrial Safety department goals. An understanding of regulations in areas such as OSHA Recordkeeping of Injury/Illness, injury/illness event investigations, health advocacy, Industrial Safety, or Health and Safety is key as the OSS is involved in decisions and actions that have a high visibility impact on the successful achievement of company goals. Duties include, but are not limited to: * Schedule, track, and ensure proper maintenance of Safety Integration program activities and materials are appropriately updated prior to use. * Provide direct support in injury/illness case management processes, aligning with documented responsibility of supporting corrective action management and action requests involving safety related situations as it pertains to employee injuries. * Participate in investigations relating to injured employees, working closely with the employees, managers, medical staff and HR to analyze problems, develop solutions and help with assessments. This individual will be heavily involved in developing solutions with Safety book issues and items of concern. * Effectively maintain and track safety recognition budget and related safety award inventory program initiatives, ensuring proper use of resources and accountability. * Assist with VPP assessments and Quarterly CAIRS (Computerized Accident/Incident Reporting System) quality Checks. * Support and assist program improvement for Case Management Team. * Provide project support by developing safety materials, coordinating participation, and managing assigned IS project responsibilities. * Help develop and participate in training for Safety Integration and Industrial Safety. * Must take prompt action to accomplish assigned objectives and understand/identify issues and opportunities. * Assist with routine facility or area safety walk downs, procedure reviews, inspections or evaluations. * Provide support to EAPC safety council committees by participating in events, creating PowerPoints and volunteering behind the scenes when needed. * Develop presentations, charts, and other graphics. * Ensures accurate recordkeeping, maintains records in accordance with applicable Records Inventory and Disposition Schedules (RIDS).
Qualifications
Grade 13: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Grade 14: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field and 1 year of experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.
Compensation
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
