Duties

We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Human Resources Administrator to support sensitive employee and beneficiary matters related to survivor benefit claims, plan distributions, and insurance billing, while also providing broad department operational support. This position resides in the Workforce Solutions Rewards and Support department which oversees Benefits Administration for the Hanford Employee Welfare Trust. This role is responsible for helping ensure survivor-related benefit processes are handled accurately, timely, and with a high degree of professionalism and empathy. The ideal candidate will have experience in benefits plan administration, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion. To be successful, the person occupying this position must be able to perform tasks such as, but not limited to, the following: * Process survivor benefit claims accurately and in accordance with plan provisions, policies, and deadlines * Coordinate and administer plan distributions for eligible beneficiaries * Perform insurance billing activities, including reconciliation, tracking, and issue resolution * Communicate with beneficiaries, employees, vendors, carriers, and internal/external stakeholders regarding benefit-related matters * Review documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance requirements * Maintain accurate records and ensure proper handling of confidential HR and benefits information * Support audits, reporting, and documentation related to benefits administration * Assist with day-to-day HR department operations, including administrative coordination and process support * Respond to questions with professionalism, empathy, and sensitivity, particularly in difficult or emotional situations * Help identify process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and service quality * Perform other clerical duties as assigned related to the needs of the department

Qualifications

* High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of related administrative experience * Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing complex transactions * Demonstrated compassion, empathy, and professionalism when supporting individuals through sensitive situations * Working knowledge of benefits plan administration, including eligibility, claims, and distributions * Experience with insurance billing, invoicing, reconciliation, or related financial/administrative processes * Ability to interpret and apply plan documents, policies, and administrative procedures * Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment * Proficiency with HR systems, spreadsheets, and standard office software * Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills * Ability to work collaboratively across HR, payroll, finance, and external vendors/carriers *Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential badge

Compensation
