Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) manages one of the most challenging radioactive waste cleanup projects in the country. The H2C mission is to safely store, retrieve, and treat 53 million gallons of legacy radioactive and hazardous waste stored in 177 underground tanks on the Hanford Site located in Richland, WA. The Tank Waste Inventory and Characterization (TWIC) organization mission is to deliver reliable waste inventory estimates for the Hanford tank farms by maintaining detailed tank was characterizations and to provide comprehensive data to support decisions on tank safety, waste management, and environmental protection through quality-focused waste sampling and analysis plans. To this end, TWIC updates and maintains the Best-Basis Inventory (BBI), which is the official tank waste inventory at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Hanford Site. H2C is seeking a proactive and technically sound Industrial Hygienist within the Project Field Support team. This role provides IH services in the recognition of hazards and implementation of controls to Field Crew and Construction forces. This role primarily implements IH programs and strategies in the scheduling, planning and field oversite of work. Additionally this role provides technical support to various stakeholders including various levels of management and workers. Other core functions include: * Plan, schedule and oversee IH impacts on field work for Plant Forces and contracted Construction crews. * Ensure compliance and implementation of IH standards and procedures to promote safe work practices. * Provide IH technical input into the work control process to ensure work is planned safely. * Communicate Technical requirements to Industrial Hygiene Technician counterpart to collect and document data appropriately. * Assist, as assigned, in assessments of IH programs and field implementation * Provide IH consultation for complex, cross functional planning and technical challenges. * Prepare written reports, gap analyses, and recommendations to improve IH programs and field implementation; follow up on corrective actions. * Educating employees on IH practices, precautions, and regulatory requirements. * Partner with multidisciplinary teams to ensure IH considerations are integrated into work planning, operations, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement initiatives. * Prepare technical reports, exposure assessments, and documentation. * Participate in ERO planning, drills and on-call list as assigned. Qualifications
Grade 16: Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, Chemistry, Biology, or related field and 2 years related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Grade 17: Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, Chemistry, Biology, or related field and 4 years related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased. Grade 18 Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, Chemistry, Biology, or related field and 6 years related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased.
Compensation
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
