Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) delivers exceptional performance in safely removing, treating, and disposing of tank waste. H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste. The Deputy Manager for Production Operations supports the Production Operations Manager in leading, directing, and coordinating activities consistent with established goals, objectives, and policies. This individual provides strategic leadership and operational oversight to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution of tank farm and facility operations. The Deputy Manager maintains continuous awareness of plant and field conditions, ensures strict adherence to Technical Safety Requirements, Conduct of Operations principles, environmental regulations, DOE directives, and company policies, and drives operational readiness and performance excellence. Responsibilities include: *Support the Manager in setting mission, vision, direction, and strategy for Production Operations, delivering safe, timely, and cost-effective accomplishment of scope through commitment to ISMS and safety excellence. *Exercise operational authority for configuration control, scheduling, prioritization, and resource alignment. *Serve as delegated authority for the Production Operations Manager during absences. *Lead operational teams through disciplined procedure use, PPE compliance, housekeeping, and field engagement. *Monitor operational performance, identify and resolve issues proactively. *Provide coaching, mentoring, and documented monthly performance development for operations personnel. *Set clear operational priorities for partner organizations; hold support groups accountable for timely, high-quality products and technical deliverables. *Ensure compliance with Technical Safety Requirements, environmental regulations, and operational safety programs. *Support and influence organizational improvements. *Deliver all work as described in DOE-approved project baselines in a safe, reliable, high-quality manner to meet contractual requirements. *Provide timely and accurate communications and reporting of project performance, issues, opportunities, risks, and risk mitigation actions. *Identify and develop personnel for succession and support company personnel development needs and opportunities.
Qualifications
Grade 23: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in engineering, physical science, operations management or related discipline; and Fourteen (14) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience Grade 24: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) degree in engineering, physical science, operations management or related discipline; and Fifteen (15) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Note the essential duties for this grade level are like those of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.
Compensation
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
