Position Summary The Project Quality Assurance Specialist supports the implementation and continuous improvement of project quality processes within an advanced nuclear environment, helping ensure that project activities, records, and deliverables are completed in accordance with approved requirements and applicable quality expectations. The specialist works with project management, engineering, procurement, suppliers, and other functional stakeholders to promote quality, identify and resolve issues, maintain objective evidence of compliance, and support the safe and reliable execution of project work. Responsibilities Experience supporting nuclear energy, nuclear fuel cycle, advanced reactor, Department of Energy, or other highly regulated technical projects. Demonstrated experience supporting quality assurance, quality control, project quality, compliance in the nuclear industry. Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of project quality assurance plans, procedures, work instructions, and related quality documentation. Review project documents, technical deliverables, records, and work products for completeness, accuracy, traceability, and compliance with approved requirements. Coordinate quality assurance activities with project management, engineering, procurement, suppliers, and other functional organizations. Participate in project reviews, surveillances, assessments, audits, and inspections, and document results in accordance with established processes. Identify quality issues, nonconformances, conditions adverse to quality, and process gaps; support evaluation, documentation, corrective action, and closure. Track quality actions, commitments, findings, and metrics, and communicate status, trends, risks, and emerging issues to project leadership. Support supplier quality activities, including review of supplier documentation, quality records, deliverables, and corrective actions. Maintain organized, complete, and retrievable quality records and objective evidence supporting project decisions and deliverables. Promote a strong nuclear safety, quality, security, and compliance culture through disciplined execution, attention to detail, and effective communication. Provide guidance to project personnel regarding quality requirements, documentation expectations, and the consistent application of approved processes.
Qualifications
Working knowledge of quality assurance principles, document control, records management, issue identification, corrective action, and continuous improvement. Ability to interpret and apply project requirements, procedures, specifications, standards, and contractual or regulatory obligations. Ability to review technical and project documentation with a high level of accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail. Ability to coordinate across technical and nontechnical functions and communicate quality concerns clearly and professionally. Proficiency with standard office productivity tools and electronic document, records, or quality management systems. Ability to work onsite in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and meet applicable client, site access, safety, security, and training requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience with project quality planning, internal or supplier audits, surveillances, inspections, nonconformance control, root cause analysis, and corrective action programs. Familiarity with nuclear quality assurance standards and quality management system requirements applicable to project execution and supplier oversight. Experience working with engineering, procurement, construction, operations, or project controls organizations. Recognized quality certification or formal training in auditing, quality engineering, corrective action, or continuous improvement. Education and Experience A bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, science, business, construction management, or a related discipline is preferred. Relevant quality assurance, project, technical, or regulated-industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. The specific level of education and experience required will be based on the scope and complexity of the assigned work.
