Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) delivers exceptional performance in safely removing, treating, and disposing of tank waste. H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste. H2C seeks a Technical Specialist to support Conduct of Operations (ConOps), operational assessments, and the Continuing Training Program across the H2C Operations organizations. This role is central to raising expectations for operational excellence, strengthening organizational performance, and ensuring consistent, high quality execution of work throughout the facility. The Technical Specialist serves as a programmatic and operational advisor, helping drive improvements in human performance, operational rigor, and cross organizational coordination. * Support and perform operational assessments including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs), and ConOps. * Provide development, review, and oversight support for the Continuing Training Program with a focus on elevating performance expectations across all operations personnel, including OEs and Nuclear Chemical Operators (NCOs). * Coach, guide, and mentor Area Managers, Shift Managers, OEs, and OEs in training to strengthen ConOps behaviors, reinforce expectations, and drive operational discipline. * Collaborate with cross functional organizations to support initiatives that enhance operational quality, efficiency, and performance. * Promote consistent application of operational standards and provide feedback to improve clarity, alignment, and execution of operational programs. * Participate in planning meetings, pre job and post job briefings, and operational discussions to ensure alignment with programmatic requirements and expectations. * Assist in identifying performance gaps, recommending corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement efforts across the H2C Operations organization. * Maintain awareness of operational trends and emerging issues, helping management proactively address areas of risk or opportunity.

Qualifications

Grade 20: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a scientific discipline or a related field and ten (10) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Grade 21: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a scientific discipline or a related field and a minimum of twelve (12) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Note: The essential duties for this grade level are similar to the previous grade; however, the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is increased. Grade 22: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a scientific discipline or a related field and a minimum of fourteen (14) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Note: The essential duties for this grade level are similar to the previous grade; however, the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.

Compensation

In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
