Position Summary The Environmental Project Engineer 4 reports to the Environmental Remediation Group Leader or the Environmental Engineering Group Leader within the ADEP Engineering and Technologies Division. This position provides technical supervision and oversight of environmental characterization and remediation activities and/or storm water activities to support NMED Consent Order and/or LANL Individual Permit deliverables. The role includes planning, directing, and supervising technical staff assignments across one or more projects and working collaboratively with subcontractors and multiple internal organizations. The successful candidate will also support initiatives to improve waste certification processes and enhance operational efficiencies aligned with mission delivery objectives. Key Responsibilities Provide technical supervision and oversight of environmental characterization and remediation projects. Support storm water compliance activities associated with regulatory permits and consent orders. Plan, direct, and supervise technical staff assignments for one or more environmental projects. Collaborate effectively with subcontractors and cross-functional internal organizations. Support development and implementation of processes for certification of newly generated TRU waste. Participate in focused discussions to develop new processes aimed at reducing waste certification cycle time. Assist in creating a project plan to establish a LANL self-certification program in coordination with the NALA field office and efficiency task force. Continuously evaluate and improve work processes to meet customer requirements and mission objectives.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science (BS) in Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university. 10–15 years of practical work experience supporting environmental restoration activities. Strong background in environmental characterization, remediation, and regulatory compliance. Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage multiple project assignments. Experience working in a team environment with subcontractors and multiple stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications New Mexico Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), or the ability to obtain licensure.
