Duties

As a member of the HMIS Emergency Management & Preparedness (EM&P) team, job duties for this position involve a range of emergency management tasks, including but not limited to: *Development of drill scenarios. *Controlling/evaluating site-wide exercises and HMIS drills. *Developing and maintaining site-wide and HMIS emergency management plans and procedures. *Coordinating emergency management site-wide external reviews and assessments with other contractors. *Conducting EM&P program assessments. *Serving as instructor for site-wide EM&P training courses. * This position interfaces with offsite emergency management agencies, the Department of Energy and contractor management at all levels and must hold a position in the Hanford Emergency Operations Center. Essential functions for this position include: *Making decisions and recommendations within authorized limits prescribed by manager and/or policy. *Maintaining and updating resource materials associated with emergency preparedness plans and procedures. *Reviewing recommendations for soundness of judgment and application of standards and policies. *Keeping informed of federal, state and local regulations affecting emergency planning. *Maintaining knowledge of safety policies and procedures and performing assigned duties in a safe manner. *Participating and/or reporting to a variety of meetings, committees, and other related groups.

Qualifications

*Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; -OR- an equivalent combination of education and related experience. *Previous experience in emergency management or emergency response. *The ability to work in the Emergency Operations Center on evenings and weekends in the infrequent event of an emergency. *Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. *Ability to obtain and maintain an "L" clearance. *Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential badge.

Compensation

To obtain this credential, new employees must successfully complete and pass a federal background check investigation. This investigation encompasses multiple areas of eligibility and includes a declaration of illegal drug activities, including use, supply, possession, or manufacture within the last year. This includes marijuana and cannabis derivatives, which are still considered illegal under federal law, regardless of state laws.
