Duties
HMIS is hiring an Engineer for its Technical Security Engineering organization. Key work scope associated with the following elements: *Develop plans, designs, and implementation strategies that apply technology in alignment with the physical security requirements for the Hanford site, supporting effective and efficient execution of the mission. *Support the design, installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the following: Physical intrusion detection sensors, video surveillance systems/video management systems, programmable logic controllers/industrial computers, data acquisition systems, uninterruptable power supply and backup power systems. *Provide technical support, field support, and assistance to craft working in the field. *Interface and work in a team environment with a variety of disciplines including software engineers, electrical engineers, designers, other professionals, and bargaining unit craft to develop design, testing, and maintenance activities for physical security and access control technologies. The successful candidate will (1) establish and maintain the engineering configuration management document baseline associated with the systems described above, (2) develop engineering design and change documentation, (3) develop other technical reports and engineering studies, and (4) work closely with customers and other stakeholders to understand the needs and requirements and will implement cost-effective technical solutions, leveraging best practices and best-of-breed technologies.
Qualifications
*Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline or copy of degree and official transcripts within 3 months from date of hire and 0-2 years engineering experience. *Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential badge. *Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" Security Clearance.
Compensation

To obtain this credential, new employees must successfully complete and pass a federal background check investigation. This investigation encompasses multiple areas of eligibility and includes a declaration of illegal drug activities, including use, supply, possession, or manufacture within the last year. This includes marijuana and cannabis derivatives, which are still considered illegal under federal law, regardless of state laws.
